Andrew Green
1979-
Andrew Green was born in Harrisonburg, Virginia, where his connection to the game began at a young age. Introduced to golf through his local country club, Green spent his early years immersed in the daily rhythm of the course.
It was during this time that Green developed a deep appreciation for classic golf architecture and the enduring work of Golden Age designers. The combination of hands-on experience and growing architectural curiosity would ultimately guide his path toward restoration. A philosophy where respect for history, land, and original design intent became one.
He later joined McDonald & Sons, a respected mid-Atlantic golf course design firm known for its restoration and renovation work. Green rose to the role of senior designer, contributing to significant projects at some of the country’s most revered clubs, including Shinnecock Hills Golf Club, Pine Valley Golf Club, and Oakmont Country Club.
Building on that experience, Green established his own practice, founding A.H. Green Design and Green Golf & Turf Inc., where he began shaping a reputation for thoughtful, historically grounded restoration work.
In 2018, Green completed his first major high-profile project at Inverness Club, restoring elements of Donald Ross’s original design. Shortly thereafter, he was entrusted with another landmark Ross course, the East Course at Oak Hill Country Club, further solidifying his standing among the leading golf course architects of his generation.
In recognition of the care and craftsmanship behind his work, Andrew Green was honored by Golfweek with Restoration of the Year at Inverness Club, reflecting both the club’s and Green’s commitment to preserving Donald Ross’s vision.
For Andrew Green, Inverness holds personal significance. He was elected to honorary membership, a point of pride that reflects the lasting relationship formed through the restoration.
Green returned in 2024 to continue advancing the master plan, with major work focused on irrigation and bunkers. Every hole on-the-course was touched in some capacity, reinforcing a thoughtful, course-wide commitment to long-term excellence.
